IDFAcademy alumni and with over a decade of experience, Matias is a documentary filmmaker whose films have been screened and awarded at festivals in more than 20 countries. He recently directed and produced the feature documentary Ouvidor (São Paulo Int’l Film Festival, Krakow Film Festival, FIDBA, Olhar de Cinema) and is currently directing two new documentary films.
Matias is the co-founder of the Brazilian production company Salga Filmes. As a producer, he has taken part in the markets of major international festivals such as IDFA, Visions du Réel, DOCSP, and DOK Leipzig. He is also a founding member and head of programming at Citronela Doc, an annual festival on the island of Ilhabela, Brazil, dedicated to contemporary documentaries through a free and diverse program of award-winning films, talks, and activities.
Originally from Argentina, Matias has lived in several countries and is currently based in São Paulo. Passionate about travel and diverse cultures, his interests also include photography and eclectic music research.
